Inuvialuit have unique harvesting rights in the Yukon. The Inuvialuit Final Agreement (IFA) defines the legal hunting, trapping and fishing rights of the Inuvialuit in their settlement region. This factsheet describes the harvesting rights of the Inuvialuit on the Yukon North Slope. Some of these rights are different from those in the Northwest Territories (NWT) part of the Inuvialuit Settlement Region.

Yukon North Slope Inuvialuit Traditional Use Study

The Yukon North Slope Inuvialuit Traditional Use (YNS ITU) study provides important information in support of the Yukon North Slope Wildlife Conservation and Management Plan. It establishes a contemporary baseline for Inuvialuit use of the YNS and provides the basis for identifying the measures necessary to conserve and protect Inuvialuit use, now and in the future.

Aklavik Local and Traditional Knowledge About Grizzly Bear of the Yukon North Slope

This report forms part of a much larger collaborative initiative with WMAC NS partners to better understand grizzly bears of the Yukon North Slope. In 2006 and 2007, interviews were conducted with knowledge holders in Aklavik. This study summarizes the knowledge shared.
